Brewing Guide – Lucy Coffee House
At Lucy Coffee House, we believe coffee is more than just a drink—it’s an experience. The way you brew your coffee shapes its flavor, aroma, and body. Whether you’re a seasoned barista or just starting to explore specialty coffee, here’s a simple guide to help you brew the perfect cup at home.
- Start with Quality Beans
- Freshly roasted beans are the foundation of a great cup. We recommend buying whole beans and grinding them just before brewing to preserve freshness and flavor.
- Measure Your Coffee
- A balanced ratio ensures consistency. A good starting point is 1 to 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 6 ounces of water. Adjust to your taste—stronger or lighter.
- Water Matters
- Use clean, filtered water heated to around 195–205°F (90–96°C). Water that’s too hot can over-extract and make coffee bitter, while cooler water can leave it flat.
- Choose Your Method
- Different brewing methods bring out different notes in your coffee:
- Pour Over: Clean, bright, and aromatic.
- French Press: Full-bodied and rich.
- Espresso: Bold and concentrated.
- Cold Brew: Smooth, low-acid, and refreshing
